Fancy a dolly scare for Halloween?

I wanted to do a feature on doll related horror films for Halloween, but I understand that buckets of gore and disturbing graphic violence is not to everyone's taste.

Worrying about this problem I suddenly remembered the following Twilight Zone episode 'Living Doll!'

While it is scary and may give you nightmares if you're creeped out by dolls (what the heck are you doing here then!?) it's only related PG so it's not going to be too horrible :)

I saw it ages ago and loved it, and so do all my dollies - I just hope they don't get any ideas O.o :)

Eco house for your dollies?

Ethical superstore is a shop that sells fairly traded and environmentally friendly goods.

I noticed today that they have a recycled cardboard dollshouse made by Paperpod, a great blank canvas of a home for your treasured smaller dolls.

The description says 840 mm high, which by my reckoning makes each room (seeing as it has three stories) about 28cm high (or about 11 inches). So, while this house would be too small for our 1/6 scale dolls such as Barbie, Blythe and most other fashion dolls, it should be ideal for our littler girls :)

I have been an admire of Caya's beautiful bears for some time now, but recently she has branched out into the most beautiful folk dolls.

Petite Poupees measure only 6 inches high and are hand drawn with watercolour pencils and have beautiful Tibetan lambswool hair.

Doll of the Day - Will from Witch

Doll of the day is Will from the series Witch. She's part of my own collection :)

Standing about 6 inches high Will and her friends can still be picked up quite easily in the bargain bins of many toy stores, though stocks finally seem to be depleting :)

She's a very cute little girl with very big eyes, a very big smile and very big shoes!

Witch is one of the better kids animated shows to come from outside of Japan, though it is obviously very influenced by popular Japanese anime shows such as Sailor Moon.

Who'd have thought such a humble bargain basement doll could star in a blog post?

It just goes to show that... where there's a Will there's a way!

Happy Mother In Laws Day 2008

In the US today you are lucky enough to be celebrating Mother In Laws day.

I was hoping to be able to share with you some lovely Mother In Law related dollies, but all I could find were these rather hostile and vindictive mother in law voodoo dolls O.o!

Of course, I would never use one of these on my own mother in law, if for no other reason than she has provided Little Miss P and I with so many cute dolls over the years :)

Rainbow Brite to return?

If you are a similar age to myself you will get a nostalgic twinkle in your eye at the mention of Rainbow Brite...

Well, rumour has it (well actually it's been reported that) she is on her way back to delight new generations!

According to "Playthings" the toy industry magazine, Playmates is planning a line of fashion dolls, plush and role play toys ready for autumn 2009.

Apparently today is the feast of the guardian angels in Catholic tradition, I was looking for some cute crafts to share with my little girl and happened across this very adorable crochet angel pattern.
